IPL, also know as Intense Pulse Light is a photofacial treatment that uses targeted energy that penetrates deep into the skin to decrease sun damage, signs of aging, redness, acne scars, breakouts, broken capillaries, and rosacea. IPL is a safe, effective approach to younger looking skin! We use light energy to heat up the skin to stimulate new collagen and elastin. The heat will help restore your skin to its natural beauty. IPL targets pigment and fine vessels that cause redness. After each treatment your body will either metabolize unwanted pigment or it will simply slough off the face, leaving you with a brighter, clearer complexion. IPL is a safe, FDA-approved option for sun damage, anti-aging, and skin rejuvenation.

Skin concerns treated with IPL:

·       sun damage

·       hyperpigmentation

·       signs of aging (fine lines, wrinkles, loss of collagen)

·       redness

·       acne scars

·       breakouts

·       broken capillaries

·       rosacea

What can you expect during your treatment:

IPL is a very bright treatment, so your eyes will be covered for the entire session. Your technician will walk you through every step and insure you’re as comfortable as possible. IPL feels warm with every pulse and resembles a rubber band being snapped on the skins surface. The IPL hand piece comes with a cooling tip to help cool you down after each pulse, making the treatment tolerable for most people.

Before you come in for IPL you must:

·       Avoid the sun for at least 2 weeks.

·       Avoid self-tanners for at least 2 weeks.

·       Avoid Retinol or any exfoliants for at least 1 week.

·       Inform the technician if you have taken Accutane in the past year.

·       Avoid alcohol or blood thinners 2 days before.

·       Come to the clinic with a clean, bare face.

What can you expect after IPL :

·       Expect redness for a couple hours after your treatment. May feel like a sunburn.

·       Your skin will be heat sensitive up to 48 hours – avoid hot showers/saunas/excessive   exercise.

·       Avoid retinols and exfoliants for 72 hours.

·       Avoid sun for least 7 days. DO NOT intentionally tan.

·       Brown spots can appear darker at first.

·       Cool compress may be used to bring down redness or swelling.

·       Do not pick anything.

·       Sleep elevated to reduce any swelling that may occur.

·       Moisturize often.

·       SPF 30+ must be worn every day.

Every client’s protocol will be slightly different, but we usually recommend starting with 3 treatments done every 4 weeks for optimal results. Your final result will not settle until 4-6 weeks after your last treatment. Your technician will take photos each session to track your results. If it is your first time doing IPL, we recommend booking in for a complimentary consultation. During this consultation the technician can test patch you at different levels to see how your skin reacts to bulk heating. This ensures that there are no complications and your results from your first treatment may be greater.
