In today’s world, everyone wants to stay looking as youthful as possible for as long as they possibly can. Luckily, there are several medical aesthetics procedures that are widely available and can keep your skin looking better than ever.
1) Anti-wrinkle injections (aka. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin etc.)
Neuromodulators are a preventative measure against fine lines, wrinkles and expression lines. When injected, they prevent muscle contraction, which prevents the skin from being pulled by facial muscles. In some cases, with regular injections starting in the late twenties to mid thirties, neuromodulators can prevent expression lines from forming at all. Starting botox later in life still has it’s benefits, as they can help smooth existing lines and prevent deepening of existing static lines.
2) Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers are a popular treatment option for those that want to restore lost volume or add volume, structure and shape to various areas of the face. Although dermal fillers are not permanent and break down over time, studies have shown that when these cross-linked hyaluronic fillers are injected into tissues, they can trigger the production of more endogenous collagen. This collagen can last even after the dermal fillers have started to break down. Collagen plays an integral role in facial volume, skin integrity and elasticity.
3) Sculptra (PLLA)
Sculptra (or Poly-L-lactic Acid) is a collagen biostimulator that is injected similarly to a
dermal filler to gradually help revitalize collagen production and to help restore your skin’s
inner structure and volume. Two treatments of Sculptra can provide the lifting effect of 8-10
syringes of hyaluronic acid filler and the effects can last for 2+ years. PLLA can be a very
effective treatment to prevent a range of unpopular ageing effects.
4) Microneedling
Microneedling is an aesthetic medical procedure that involves repeatedly puncturing the skin with very tiny sterile needles in order to induce endogenous production of cutaneous
collagen and elastin. Microneedling is effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and
wrinkles, improving skin texture as well as treating hyperpigmentation and scarring. This
treatment can be done alone or in combination with any of the above mentioned treatments
as a preventative measure against wrinkles and volume loss.
5) PRF Facial
Last but certainly not least is the PRF (platelet rich fibrin) facial. The PRF facial, (coined the
“Vampire Facial” by the aesthetics industry) is an injectable treatment that uses your own
blood and the growth factors within it to promote collagen production and skin rejuvenation.
PRF is the latest treatment when it comes to blood concentration therapies. It is similar to
PRP but the results have proven to be superior in terms of facial rejuvenation and collagen
induction. The PRF facial really is the “Rolls Royce” of facials and the result is a more plump, tighter, brighter and more even complexion.
So, which of these treatments or combination should you go for? That’s up to you and your doctor. Depending on your goals, where you are in life, and the existing condition of your skin, one or many of these treatment options may be for you.
